One Set of Standards, Worldwide
Recognized by sponsors as the industry gold standard, AAHRPP accreditation already extends protections to research participants around the world—by setting uniform, high-quality standards across the research enterprise in industry, government, and the non-profit sector.
In place of a patchwork of regulations from one country to another, AAHRPP provides a single, comprehensive set of Accreditation Standards that include—and usually exceed—specific country regulations. That's why industry's Multi-Regional Clinical Trials Project is considering urging accreditation for all trials conducted for the major drug companies.
What accreditation is, and is not:
Accreditation is an ongoing process that ensures the public, government officials, and research participants that the clinical trials you sponsor are both ethical and of the highest quality possible.
It does not prove the ethics and excellence of your research.
Accreditation is an intensive, in-depth evaluation of the policies, procedures, and practices of a central IRB’s, clinical research organization’s, or research site’s human research protection program.
It does not identify every protocol-specific problem in research.
Accreditation requires significant commitment and resources.
Accreditation makes a research program significantly more efficient and effective.
